PuzzleFlow Solutions at drupa 2008

Warsaw, 01.07.2008

The Polish-based ACCHSH company, producer of the highly advanced PuzzleFlow system and PuzzleFlow-based solutions, was one of the participants of drupa innovation parc (dip) organized as a part of the recently held drupa 2008 trade fair. ACCHSH’s solutions, devoted for different segments the of printing and publishing industry, were presented on four separate booths located in dedicated dip areas: PDF/XML Production Parc, Print + Publishing Parc, JDF Experience Parc and Online Communication Parc.

At the booth belonging to PDF/XML Production Parc, the common solution of ACCHSH and the Korean-based UNIDOCS Inc. were presented. It was the first result of a technological co-operation established between both companies in the beginning of 2008. The solution, based on ACCHSH’s PuzzleFlow Framework and UNIDOCS’ Digital Rights Management (DRM) software, is devoted to press publishers, offering them new opportunities considering many readers’ movement from printed newspapers to Internet. Therefore UNIDOCS created a Newsviewer software which allows for active previewing (actually reading) a newspaper or a magazine, page after page, on the computer screen. It includes all benefits offered by a digital technology, e.g. playing audio/video files (incl. ads) as well as edition of a text by a reader (enlarging, marking, copying, printing etc.). The content of copyrighted articles is protected by a special DRM tools created by UNIDOCS. The program - thanks to ACCHSH’s technology - enables the creation of the reader’s own publications, based on the content of an original title. Data which are to be printed or placed in the web, are submitted as an encrypted PDF file to the PuzzleFlow-based Print-on-Demand where they are decrypted and processed in the workflow.

In the Print + Publishing Parc area, ACCHSH presented its solutions together with the Lewald & Partner company, its German sales partner and integrator of its software. The first presented application enables the automatic processing and correcting of PDF documents submitted by a customer for proofing. The program received certification from FOGRA. During the fair, ACCHSH/Lewald & Partner and FOGRA stands were connected by Internet allowing for live demonstrations of the software. Elmar Gaschet of Lewald & Partner company says: After registering at FOGRA booth, the visitors of dip could use e.g. our system for checking and processing their own PDF jobs. After that the “old” and the correct files were enriched in the Adobe InDesign-based software and then proofs were produced. It allowed for almost immediate comparison of effectiveness and accuracy of different vendors’ solutions. According to opinions of drupa visitors, the common solution of ACCHSH and Lewald & Partner was recognized as the best among similar programs offered by other vendors.
The other product presented was the PuzzleFlow Color Server, a program devoted for big publishers and printers. It enables optimizing and automation of color management process, considering the ink usage reduction, during printing.

The booth located in the JDF Experience Parc area hosted presentations of the latest version of the ACCHSH’s flagship product - PuzzleFlow Solutions Framework, which officially debuted at drupa 2008. It confirms the change of ACCHSH’s strategy which is now based on creating solutions devoted for different printing industry areas, even according to special customer’s needs, and offering them as a service, not a ready product. Tomasz Drazek, chief of PuzzleFlow project at ACCHSH, says: We say PuzzleFlow Framework is an entry system for creating different and dedicated applications that can be purchased by our customers as a service, instead of a packed product, as it was before. We hope that such an individual approach, fitted to specific needs of our customers, will attract interest of many companies and will become a good fulfillment of our offer devoted to system integrators.
This part of the exhibition also hosted a common solution based on ACCHSH’s PuzzleFlow system and Printimanager.JDF system, a software supporting the whole activity of a printing company, created by another Polish company, Infosystems. The solution is a result of a recently established co-operation between both companies and includes either elements characteristic for a typical workflow system or MIS/ERP modules.
The other ACCHSH’s products demonstrated in this part of dip exhibition were JDF-compatible solutions, based on PuzzleFlow and integrated with the latest version of Harlequin RIP and other JDF-based software.

The last dip area, in which ACCHSH presented its solutions, was Online Communication Parc, where the systems enabling automation of PDF-based online production (Web2Print) were demonstrated. Here ACCHSH promoted its solutions based on web services, allowing for communication via standard Internet browser between different parties of production process. In a result the Internet-based solution enables integration of different programs, incl. workflow system, MIS/ERP system and Internet portal allowing customers for job ordering, management and approval. The company demonstrated several case studies using web services technology, implemented in different companies world-wide.
Among other demonstrated products there were applications developed by PuzzleFlow Solutions Europe, a common enterprise of ACCHSH and the Dutch-based Ready4Print companies. This Amsterdam-based centre offers complex service covering sales, training and technical support for PuzzleFlow solutions users from Western Europe.
At drupa 2008 PuzzleFlow PoD, a PuzzleFlow Framework-based application, had its official premiere. It’s an extensive application, offering the following functions: acquiring, conversion, submission and verifying of jobs (supplied by PuzzleFlow Express module) as well as automated prepress corrections, jobs management, approval and preview (as part of MIS system). The other promoted product was PuzzleFlow Publisher Solution, a complete system for publishers and ad agencies. It allows for a full prepress job control - from creation to files submission to the printer.

Andrzej Czyz, CEO of ACCHSH, concludes the participation of his company in this year’s drupa fair: We are very delighted of drupa presentations prepared in co-operation with our partners from different parts of the world. The solutions demonstrated at four ACCHSH’s booths, located in the drupa innovation parc exhibition, attracted big interest of visitors. We are convinced that soon they will result in further implementations of PuzzleFlow-based solutions in many companies world-wide.
