PuzzleFlow production servers in Wydawnictwo Bauer

2005-02-24

Warsaw, Poland, February, 2005

AC&C HSH Group has installed 3 PDF PuzzleFlow™ production servers at “Wydawnictwo Bauer” the biggest publisher of high quality magazines in Poland.

AC&C HSH Group celebrates a new installation of PuzzleFlowT technology, which was successfully completed at one of the biggest Polish magazine publishers – “Wydawnictwo Bauer”.

The tests, which had been conducted by AC&C HSH Group R&D Department together with engineers of “Wydawnictwo Bauer”, showed a significant improvement and acceleration of the PDF prepress workflow.

Bauer Verlag started the tests shortly after the installation of Xerox DC12 equipped with Fiery RIPs. The installed corrections and proofing systems based on DC12 were not effective enough for a high volume production. “Wydawnictwo Bauer”, which publishes 32 weekly and monthly magazines with a total circulation of 36 million, is one of the first publishing houses using PDF as a standard format through the whole production process. Its primary function was normalization of PDF documents and control of multiple input queues through hot folders and  collecting PDF documents for content and color proofing. In the next stage after the test phase PuzzleFlow servers were upgraded to the unlimited numbers of active queues and now control the whole production of all magazines.

“The effectiveness and speed of the installed PuzzleFlow servers were a very big positive surprise. The online support of AC&C HSH Group is the fastest and most professional we have of all of our software providers” – said Pawel Niewiadomski – Production Manager of “Wydawnictwo Bauer” in Poland

The latest upgrade of the installed PDF PuzzleFlowT systems include a Color Management module. The PuzzleFlow CMS module has been chosen because of its speed and versatility.

The module can apply various ICC based transformations selectively for distinct objects in PFD files and process PDF pages in seconds.

“The most important feature for us is the ability to apply device link profiles for
CMYK -> CMYK transforms. The device link profiles, utilizing 16-bit 32-point look-up tables with the
ability of CMYK to CMYK data correction helped us to achieve the desired calibration
quality of proofing devices we use”
– said Pawel Niewiadomski.
