PROOFGATE4 via JDF in PuzzleFlow integrated

From now on, the popular ColorGATE-software solution makes sure that proof
output from the modular workflow PuzzleFlow from AC&C HSH is ISO 12647-2-
certified and legally binding.

Hannover, March 23, 2005 – ColorGATE, a leading supplier for color management and printing software solutions (RIPs) is pleased to announce the availability of its product PROOFGATE4 as a module for the PuzzleFlow modular workflow solution .

The certified proofing solution PROOFGATE4 offers an integration of the FOGRA media wedge, which can be output together with the file, as well as the possibility of defining and saving users’ own ICC profiles.
The software uses the CrossXColor- and DeviceLink-Technology responsible for incorporating all variable parameters for printing, such as printing system, environmental conditions, ambient light conditions, or linearization performance.

PuzzleFlow, as a workflow solution, automates and controls all processes within the prepress department – starting from data input up to data output. The modular structure of the JDF compliant program serves for customizing of the software directly towards the individual requirements of the
client. By using the integration of PROOFGATE4 into PuzzleFlow, companies can now realize a NORM workflow (Normalize Once, Output Many). The integrated option for color transformation within PuzzleFlow guarantees that the proof-RIP is working with the same data as the final output RIP.
In this way one avoids occuring the potential of a different conversion of RGB or LAB data for different output devices, as well as it guaranties a maximum color security by using the same conversion algorithms.

The operator works in his usual PuzzleFlow environment, therefore, eliminating the need to “learn” a new program. Both software solutions, PROOFGATE4 and PuzzleFlow, work seamlessly with each other via JDF integration (Job Definition Format). JDF as a link between the programs ensures that the
complete color management settings from PROOFGATE4 are available for the jigsaw-piece “PROOFGATE” in PuzzleFlow. PuzzleFlow then controls these.
After processing the job, PROOFGATE4 hands a JMF file (Job Messaging Format) back to Puzzle Flow, containing the processing and time information. PuzzleFlow users are able to follow the job via status control up to its final output from their own desks and, if needed, can manually intervene.

The benefits of this workflow are obvious: client-supplied data are being checked for consistency and errors. Only after the check has been successful and the job is free for printing, these data are ripped and proofed. The final ISO certified proof is then – thanks to PROOFGATE4 – an exact color imulation of the final print product.
