PuzzleFlow System Certified by Ghent PDF Workgroup

Recently the 
PuzzleFlow production system and its integral part PuzzleFlow Express, both created by the Polish-based ACCHSH company, have been certified as compatible with the Ghent PDF Workgroup (GWG) market standards.

The Polish producer has also been mentioned on the workflows reference list published at the GWG web site.

Ghent PDF Workgroup, founded in June 2002, is an international organisation made up of graphic arts users, associations and developers, building the market standards for workflow systems. The resulting specifications and recommendations enable easier creating, processing and exchange of files used in different areas of printing production.

One of the biggest GWG achievements is creating and making free specifications available for using PDF documents in vertical graphic arts segment applications. According to GWG, a specification is a set of guidelines to which a PDF file should conform. A practical example of a guideline could be the color spaces allowed in a PDF file or the image resolution required for images in a PDF file.

Among the specifications defined by GWG are guidelines supporting different production segments, different output processes or different workflow systems. For example, a magazine advertisement workflow is going to have totally different guidelines than a newspaper workflow.

Besides making specifications, GWG has also published several white papers concerning the above subjects and prepared many tests for checking the ability of workflows to correctly handle PDF files to production.

The ACCHSH’s PuzzleFlow v.3 and PuzzleFlow Express software solutions have been tested in terms of its preflighting abilities. PuzzleFlow v.3 is a comprehensive system used for organising work and processing documents, while the PuzzleFlow Express program (formerly known as PdfPreflighter) is a combination of a preflighting tool and a job distribution system. Both software solutions have been certified as compatible with GWG market standards and exposed on the workflow reference list at http://www.gwg.org/
